This artifact is a mini-lesson that I taught to the rest of the class. The point of it was to role-play creating a lesson that was presented to the class, and then afterward everyone gave positive and negative feedback regarding the effectiveness of the lesson. For my mini-lesson, I chose to teach the “class” how to take group notes on a shared document. I chose the Battle of Salamis as my content to work from, gave them time to read the source I provided and take notes, and then used a Kahoot I created as a formative at the end of the time I was given. I think this artifact demonstrates Standard 3, specifically the parts that talk about collaboration and social interaction. Group notes are meant to be collaborative and require talking to your group to determine who starts where so nobody is taking notes on something that someone else has done.

This will be useful for my future career for a couple of reasons. First of all, coming up with creative, engaging lesson plans is something that I will have to be constantly doing to keep the students engaged so being able to practice in the controlled environment was very helpful. Also, the feedback I received on my own, as well as watching the rest of the class present was very useful in seeing what I can add or change in order to make my future lessons more engaging.
